Trial set Feb. 1 for man accused in sex assault

By Kristin M. Kraemer, Herald staff writer

A 21-year-old man faces trial Feb. 1 on allegations he sexually assaulted a teen girl and tried to strangle his brother during a bonfire party in Finley.

Jeremy Dean Bond pleaded innocent to second-degree assault with domestic violence and fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation.

Prosecutors allege the Kennewick man was at a bonfire June 17 when he stepped away from the party and gestured to a girl to come talk to him. Bond forced her to "straddle his waist," then threw her to the ground, pinned her and began to bite her neck, court documents said.

The girl was able to get Bond off her and ran away, documents said.

Bond returned to the bonfire, where he proceeded to get into a fight with his brother, court documents said. Bond had been drinking and his brother reportedly tried to stop him from driving.

Bond allegedly strangled his brother during the argument. He has been ordered to have no contact with the victims while the case is pending.
