WALLA WALLA -- Walla Walla head football coach Marc Yonts announced Friday he is resigning his position after 14 years.
Yonts worked as an assistant football coach at Walla Walla High School under Gary Mires for five years before taking over the program.
He also coached for one year at Fresno (Calif.) Community College before moving to Walla Walla, according to a district news release.
Yonts led the Blue Devils to a 87-61 mark, including two Big Nine titles and nine playoff appearances. In 2002, Yonts led the Blue Devils football team to the state semifinals.
"I'm very thankful and honored to have been given the opportunity to carry on Walla Walla High School's proud football tradition," Yonts said in a prepared statement.

SEATTLE -- It's really the last thing for Keith Price still to prove.
