E.L. Curtis, regional Scout executive, told the members of the chamber of commerce that the growth of communism in the northwest among the youth was assuming alarming proportions. He said that 50,000 youngsters had taken the communistic oath which declared for the "overthrow of our rotten, capitalistic government."
