Kamiakin High School Link Crew Students will be holding a "Drop and Shop" babysitting service for holiday shoppers from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 5 at the Kamiakin High School Gym, 600 N. Arthur St., Kennewick.
Kamiakin Link Crew students are offering an afternoon of board and video games, sports activities, crafts, movies and snacks for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade. Parents can drop off their child at the school and have the afternoon free to run errands.

Fee is $10 per child if registered by today and $15 if registered after. All proceeds benefit the Kamiakin Link Crew.

Kennewick High School played host to the January Knowledge Bowl contest on Tuesday.
Twelve teams from Kennewick, Kamiakin, Southridge, Chiawana and Connell high schools participated. Placing first was Kamiakin team 1 with 113 points. Second was Southridge team 1 with 75 points and third was Kennewick team 2 with 67 points.
Kamiakin's winning team includes Alexis Hooper, Elizabeth Hooper, Zachary Woffinden and Joseph Luey.

In boys basketball, Hanford, Kamiakin, Pasco, Richland and Southridge will get their first look at area talent during a jamboree at Chiawana High School at 6:30 p.m. today. On the girls side, Kamiakin, Pasco, Richland, Southridge will do battle at the Hanford jamboree at 6:30 p.m.

The Kennewick School District has hired new assistant principals at both Southridge and Kamiakin high schools.
Molly Hammaker-Teals, Southridge's new assistant principal, began teaching math at Kennewick High School in 1995. She has also worked as a math teacher at Southridge.
Mary Isley, Kamiakin's new assistant principal, has been working in the district since 1998. She was a math and science teacher, interim assistant principal, and athletic director at Park Middle School.
