Ladybird back in town

Get ready for an all-star line-up at Ray's Golden Lion, featuring former Tri-City rock group Ladybird.

"It's our favorite place to play," said Ladybird drummer Chris Dodd. "Fans are like family. We all grew up there, and whether or not we still live there, it's still home."

The show is at 8 p.m. Nov. 28 in Richland. Tickets are $10 at the door.

Ladybird will be sharing the stage with Pasco rock group Citizen Hi-Fi and Missionary Position from Seattle. Missionary lead singer Jeff Angell originally sang for Post Stardom Depression, which toured with Loudermilk (now known as Gosling).

"Ladybird has been keeping busy with shows around Seattle and Bellingham and is working on recording and new material," wrote bassist Bill Hughes in an e-mail.

The band is planning to get back in the studio to record their second EP in early 2010, so fans will be able to hear it next spring.

Dodd, who lives in Los Angeles, frequently flies to Seattle to practice with his longtime friends and bandmates.

"We write songs via e-mail," he said. "When we get together we kind of have an idea already of how the song's going to go."

While Dodd works for a record company, he doesn't find himself forming other bands with locals in L.A.

"We all just enjoy playing music together that it's hard to find other people to play with that we enjoy as much," he said.

Their self-titled EP will be available at the show for $5.

Ray's Golden Lion is at 1353 George Washington Way in Richland.
