SEATTLE -- Sami Whitcomb hit an open 3-pointer with 4.1 seconds left to lift Washington to a 67-66 victory over Brigham Young on Wednesday night.
Whitcomb scored 15 of her game-high 25 points in the final 3:40 to rally Washington (1-1) from a 59-50 deficit.
Keilani Moeaki made 1 of 2 free throws to put BYU (1-1) up 66-64 with 22.5 seconds left. After a timeout, Sarah Morton dribbled down the clock until firing a pass to Whitcomb a few feet behind the 3-point line to set up the winning shot.
Haley Hall had 14 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead four players in double figures for BYU.
Coriann Wood, a Connell graduate, and Moeaki had 11 points apiece, and Mindy Nielson 10.
The Huskies beat BYU for the first time since 1983 and snapped a three-game losing streak to the Cougars. The teams last met in 1999.
Washington rallied to tie the game at 46-46 midway through the second half after trailing by 10 in the first half.
The Cougars responded with a 13-4 run over the next six minutes to lead 59-50. Nielson, Hall and Wood each hit 3-pointers during the stretch.
