HERMISTON -- The Hermiston Linebacker Club will hold a luncheon meeting at noon Thursday at the Desert Lanes Bowling Alley, 1545 N. 1st Street in Hermiston.
Coach Mark Hodges will talk about the Bulldogs' second-round state playoff game vs. Crater and answer questions.
Cost is $8 for members and $10 for nonmembers.

Leadership Hermiston celebrating 15th year
HERMISTON -- Leadership Hermiston will be celebrating its 15th anniversary with an annual alumni gathering.
From 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 13, there will appetizers and drinks, an opportunity to win a gift basket and a chance to meet the new Leadership Hermiston class of 2012.
The event will be at the Hermiston Conference Center. All proceeds will go toward a scholarship fund for future Leadership Hermiston participants.

Janice "Jan" Nichols, 57, of Hermiston, died Aug. 20 in Portland.
She was born in Port Angeles and lived in Hermiston for 26 years.
She was a librarian for the Hermiston School District.
