Lampson, Edgar Brown stage state football playoffs

A busy weekend of football is set for Mid-Columbia teams still alive in the state playoffs, and the Tri-Cities will be the site of two of those games plus another featuring the top-ranked 2A team in the state.

In a battle of local 1A powers, No. 2 Connell (11-0) takes on River View (9-2) at 4 p.m. Saturday at Lampson Stadium, which also will host 2A No. 1 Ellensburg (11-0) playing No. 7 Mark Morris (10-1) at 7 p.m. Friday.

-- Fourth-ranked Tri-Cities Prep (8-2) hosts No. 2 Almira/Coulee-Hartline (9-1) at 7 p.m. Friday at Edgar Brown Stadium.

-- Meanwhile, No. 6 Othello (9-2) travels to Gonzaga Prep in Spokane to play No. 5 West Valley at 4 p.m. Saturday.

-- In the 2B ranks, DeSales (8-3) travels to Yakima to take on No. 2 La Salle (11-0) at 1 p.m. Saturday at Marquette Stadium.

-- In the Oregon state playoffs, Hermiston is on the road, playing at Crater at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
