HERMISTON -- Members of nonprofit organizations are invited to the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce's annual nonprofit trade show luncheon on Nov. 24.
Featured speaker is Ann Glynn, director of the Community Development Law Center in Portland, which is a program of Legal Aid Services of Oregon. She will discuss issues that affect nonprofits' community, clients and bottom line and will answer questions afterward.

The itinerary begins with coalition president Luke Maynard's message and includes the Columbia Basin Aquifer Recharge Project, water rights and law, the Columbia River Treaty and a session with state Rep. Greg Smith,
R-Heppner.
The luncheon is $10 for chamber members, $13 for nonmembers.

HERMISTON -- The Hermiston Chamber of Commerce will hold a holiday open house from 3 to 6 p.m. Dec. 20 at the Hermiston Conference Center on Highway 395.
The open house will feature a tasting of artisan cheeses made by Oregon State University student, Brian Humiston, along with other Oregon-made products including PGG's new flavored canola oils and Pat-n-Tam's beef sticks and sausages.

HERMISTON -- A work clothes parking lot sale, which benefits a homeless family shelter, is from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Agape House in Hermiston.
Items include new pants, shirts, medical scrubs and chef shirts. All items are 50 cents each.
Proceeds support Martha's House, a new homeless shelter. Agape House is a nonprofit organization that works to provide food, clothing and other life essentials to those in need.

Hermiston depot closure to be addressed at forum
HERMISTON -- A forum on the regional impacts of the closure of the Umatilla Army Depot is planned for Wednesday.
The last of the chemical weapons stored at the depot is scheduled to be destroyed in November. The forum will discuss effects on businesses, the economy and land use.
A panel for the forum will include representatives from the Army, the depot's Reuse Authority, the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program. An economist from Oregon State University also is scheduled to speak.
