GARFIELD -- A Pomeroy man and his wife were injured Saturday when he reportedly fell asleep and drove off Highway 12 into a field in Garfield County, the Washington State Patrol said.
James A Roosevelt, 86, was westbound in a 1997 Dodge Ram shortly after 3 p.m. when he reportedly fell asleep and drove off the west shoulder of the highway, the patrol said.
He and his wife, Evelyn Roosevelt, 78, were taken to Garfield Memorial Hospital for treatment, the patrol said.

A 37-year-old Kennewick man was arrested early Tuesday after reportedly holding his ex-wife against her will and assaulting her.
Kennewick police responded at 1:40 a.m. to a home in the 4600 block of West Seventh Avenue after the woman called 911, police said.
When officers arrived, they contacted Eriberto Gutierrez, who allegedly was intoxicated and became argumentative when questioned.

SUNNYSIDE -- A Sunnyside man died Friday after his van crossed the centerline and struck another vehicle.
Jose Cervantes Lopez, 63, had been driving north on Highway 241 at Tear Road, two miles south of Sunnyside. Around 6:51 p.m., he swerved his 1989 Dodge van into oncoming traffic and hit a 2005 Dodge Dakota PK driven by 64-year-old Thomas L. St. George of Mabton, said the Washington State Patrol.
Cervantes died at the scene, according to police. St. George was taken to Sunnyside Community Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition today. His wife, Teresa J. St. George, 61, was taken to Prosser Memorial Hospital.

More than 25,000 marijuana plants were recovered in the state's largest pot bust this year, and three suspects, including one from the Tri-Cities, have been jailed in connection with the investigation.
A multi-agency team removed 25,765 marijuana plants from the Eckler Mountain area of Columbia County, southeast of Dayton, on Thursday, said a news release.
The team include the Columbia County Sheriff's Office, the U.S. Forest Service and the Washington State Patrol's marijuana eradication team.
