Play the Game is an interesting generational juxtaposition.
TV acting icon Andy Griffith is a lonely grandfather consoled by his grandson, played by Paul Campbell (Battlestar Galactica).

The grandson shows his granddad how to be a player. He starts dating and learns things about sex and has discussions about things that are more or less taboo to today’s senior.
The kid — meanwhile — meets the one woman he can’t manipulate via games and learns lessons of love.
Though he’s not as good as he was in Waitress a few years ago, Griffith is the consummate pro and has a blast with this character.
Campbell — who reminds me of Leonardo DiCaprio — is terrific and so is the cast of co-stars.
Play the Game is a sweet, easy comedy that's filled with TV actors. It's only on the big screen because it is slightly too “mature” for TV.

Rated PG-13 for mature themes. It opens Friday, Nov. 13 at the Carmike 12.
