WSU Tri-Cities exhibit offers a personal look at struggles with anorexia

You'll get an personal look at the lives of people struggling with anorexia and bulimia when the photography exhibit Skeleton in the Closet which opens Nov. 16 at Washington State University Tri-Cities in Richland.

The photo essay features 20 portraits by Portland photographer Fritz Liedtke.

Each portrait is accompanied by a statement from the person in the photograph, telling their own compelling story about their eating disorder and how it effected their lives, as well as how they saved themselves from certain death.

Liedtke, who holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the Pacific Northwest College of Art, has worked as a freelance photographer since 1991. He also is an instructor at his alma mater, as well as the Newspace Center for Photography in Portland.

A reception for the artist starts at noon Nov. 16 and includes an informational talk about eating disorders given by Phyllis Morris, academic director of the WSU Tri-Cities College of Nursing. The talk is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The exhibit continues through Nov. 30 in the WSU Tri-Cities Consolidated Information Center, 2770 University Drive. Admission is free.
