Two Mattawa residents remained hospitalized Sunday after a man driving a pickup veered across the centerline on Highway 241 and hit their southbound vehicle 10 miles north of Sunnyside.
Cristobal Rico Villarreal, 35, and his passenger Ricarda Camacho Gomez, 33, were listed in serious condition Sunday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Villarreal was driving a 1995 Mercury Villager at the time of the 7:27 p.m. collision Saturday with the 2003 Toyota pickup driven by Juan M. Zuniga, 19, of Sunnyside, said the Washington State Patrol.
Zuniga and his passenger Jennifer L. Smith, 17, of Sunnyside, were not hurt.
The state patrol said drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
