The LIGO Hanford Observatory monthly astronomy event is from 1:30 to 4 p.m. today at the observatory on Horn Road in Richland.
Admission is free for all ages. Festivities include hands-on activities for the whole family, films, demonstrations and tours of the observatory. All programs are given in English and Spanish.
Walking tours, including the control room, continue from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Nov. 14. Warm clothes and comfortable shoes are recommended both dates.

Jay Pasachoff, an astronomy professor from Williams College in Massachusetts, will speak Monday at Columbia Basin College about solar eclipses. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Pasachoff is the director of Williams College's Hopkins Observatory, the oldest observatory in the U.S.
