A 28-year-old man is accused of pinning down his wife for about a half-hour when she refused his demands to have sex.
Javier Alejandro Tovar Jr. of Kennewick pleaded innocent to unlawful imprisonment this week in Benton County Superior Court. His trial is set for Jan. 19.
Court documents state that Tovar demanded sex from the victim Oct. 24. When she said no, he held her down on the bed and on the floor by the bed, documents said.
The woman couldn't get away but was able to dial 911 and leave the phone off the hook so dispatchers could hear what was happening, court documents said. Tovar allegedly let her go once police arrived.
The woman said her husband "has been physically abusive in the past." He reportedly has three prior convictions for domestic violence.
Tovar is in jail on $10,000 bail.
