KAMLOOPS, British Columbia -- Drydn Dow scored his first two WHL goals Tuesday night in helping the Tri-City Americans steamroll the Kamloops Blazers 8-3 at Interior Savings Centre.
The U.S. Division-leading Americans (14-3-0-0, 28 points), who finished 4-1 on their five-game road trip, host Vancouver on Friday. Tri-City is the only team in the WHL still undefeated on home ice (6-0).
The Giants have won just two games on the road this season.
The Blazers (8-9-2-0, 18 points) have lost seven in a row after opening the season 7-1-2-0.
Five of the Americans' goals came on special teams, including Dow's first goal, scored on the power play just 3:08 into the game.
Kruise Reddick added a short-handed goal to give Tri-City a 2-0 lead, but Kamloops' Tyler Shattock cut the lead in half with less than a minute to play in the first period.
The Americans opened the second period with three goals in the first 4:46 as Neal Prokop scored his first with the Americans, Down tallied his second of the night and Brendan Shinnimin scored his team-leading 13th.
Brett Lyon scored for the Blazers to make it 5-2, but Tyler Schmidt's power-play goal gave Tri-City a 6-2 lead at the end of 40 minutes.
Kamloops' Jake Trask scored the first goal of the third to pull the Blazers within 6-3, but power-play goals by Adam Hughesman and Jordan Messier made it 8-3.
Drew Owsley finished with 25 saves for the Americans, who outshot the Blazers 49-28.

The Blazers (38-12-1-3) lead the Western Hockey League with 80 points, two ahead of the Edmonton Oil Kings (36-12-2-4, 78 points) and four in front of Tri-City, though the Americans (37-13-1-1) have two games in hand on both teams.
Kamloops won this season's four-game series 3-1.

KENNEWICK -- The Tri-City Americans have held the top spot in the Western Hockey League for weeks, climbing to the top with the help of a 13-game winning streak and a stellar record on home ice.
But the Kamloops Blazers are knocking on the door and looking to evict the Americans from their perch.
Tri-City coach Jim Hiller, who has downplayed the importance of certain games this season, admitted that tonight's home match-up against the Spokane Chiefs and Saturday's showdown with Kamloops are big.

We all know Calvin Pickard is a good goalie. Tops in the WHL, if you will. After playing two game with some of the top players in the WHL against the Russians, Pickard carried that momentum into Friday’s game against the Americans — to the tune of a a 3-0 shutout.
It was the first time the Americans had been shutout this season, and the loss ended their five-game win streak.
Tonight, the Kamloops Blazers are in town for their first game against the Ams this season. The Blazers haven’t had much luck at Toyota Center in the past. They haven’t won at Toyota Center since Dec. 29, 2008, a span of four games.

KENNEWICK -- In a matchup of two heavyweights in the Western Conference, the Tri-City Americans got in the last lick to stay one step ahead of the competition.
Justin Feser scored the game winner in overtime and Ty Rimmer finished with 22 saves as the Tri-City Americans held off the Kamloops Blazers 3-2 on Saturday night before a crowd of 5,408 at Toyota Center.
"It was a good game and we expected that from them," Tri-City coach Jim Hiller said. "We were dangerous around their net and we corrected what we did poorly (Friday) night (3-0 loss at Seattle). I thought it was a great crowd. There was a lot of electricity in the building."
