The baby mammoth on display at the Columbia Center mall in Kennewick has been given the name Baby Ems.
Ashley Nelson of Richland submitted the winning name in the "Name the Baby" contest. Ten runners-up will receive guest passes to Fairchild Cinema in Pasco and Regal Cinema in Kennewick.
The Hanford Reach Interpretive Center has been displaying a replica of the complete skeleton of a prehistoric baby woolly mammoth at the mall since July.
Nearly 2,600 entries were received, with more than 1,750 names suggested.

The Herald is seeking photos of veterans for our 2011 Veterans Day special section Nov. 11.
Submit your photo and information online through www.tricityherald.com/forms/ or come in to the Herald office at 333 W. Canal Drive, Kennewick, to have the photo scanned in by our staff from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
Submit one photo per veteran and include no more than 100 words about the person. Deadline is Oct. 28.

SMITHFIELD, Utah -- A Celebration of Today's Writers, sponsored by Utah-based Creative Communication, is accepting entries for its 2012 essay and poetry contests.
Thousands of dollars will be awarded to students and schools. To enter an essay, write 250 words or less on any nonfiction topic. The deadline for the essay contest is Feb. 15.
To enter a poem, submit one original poem in English, 21 lines or less. The deadline is April 12.
