PRINCE GEORGE, British Columbia -- Brendan Shinnimin scored a pair of goals and had an assist, and Brett Martyniuk posted a shutout in his first start of the season to lead the Tri-City Americans to a 4-0 Western Hockey League victory over Prince George on Saturday night.
The game was played before a crowd of 1,630 at CN Centre, the smallest attendance in the 15 years the Cougars (3-12-0-0, 6 points) have been in Prince George. It was the Americans' eighth straight win over the Cougars.
Shinnimin, who leads the Americans (13-3-0-0, 26 points) with 12 goals, scored the first two goals of the game. He is tied for third in the league in scoring with 28 points.
Adam Hughesman and Johnny Lazo added goals in the third period for Tri-City, which outshot PG 40-20. Hughesman and Kruise Reddick also had two assists apiece.
Martyniuk, whose only other ice time this season was
9 minutes in Tri-City's loss to Spokane on Sept. 26, stopped all 20 shots he faced.
Prince George keeper Hudson Stremmel finished with 36 saves.

Comrie (4-2-0-0) hasn't allowed a goal in 152 minutes, 24 seconds.
Nate MacMaster provided the only goal the Americans (10-4-0-0) would need in keeping their place atop the WHL standings with 20 points.

CALGARY, Alberta The Western Hockey League announced today that Tri-City Americans forward Adam Hughesman is the WHL Player of the Week.
Hughesman picked up seven points, scoring one goal and six assists to go with a +4 rating, in two games over the WHL Opening Weekend, helping the American's to a 2-0-0-0 start on the season.
On Saturday, Sept. 24, the Americans opened their regular season at home playing host to the Spokane Chiefs. Hughesman scored one goal and added two assists helping the Ams’ defeat the Chiefs 4-1.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- The Tri-City Americans haven't lost back-to-back games since the second week of the season, and they weren't about to do it again Friday night.
Coming off a 3-2 loss at Kamloops on Wednesday, the Americans scored a six pack of goals in the second period en route to an 11-4 victory over the Vancouver Giants at Pacific Coliseum.
It was the most goals scored by the Americans (33-8-0-0, 66 points) since an 11-7 win over Prince George on March 4, 2003. Vancouver (26-15-1-1, 54 points) has only allowed 11 goals twice -- Friday and Jan. 5, 2002 to Kelowna.

TORONTO The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Eric Comrie of the Tri-City Americans is the CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week.
The period, which ended Sunday, saw the rookie from Newport Beach, Calif., record two shutout victories in two starts.
Comrie, 16, recorded his first two career shutouts in back-to-back wins against the Prince George Cougars. The Americans won both contests by 1-0 scores with Comrie making 17 saves on Friday night as third star of the game, and then made 30 saves as first star of the game on Saturday.
He has made six career starts this season for the Americans with a record of 4-2-0-0 with a goals-against-average of 2.75 and save percentage of .903.
