YAKIMA -- Rick Bowers, who has led Warden to seven state championships in his 29 seasons, will be inducted into the Washington State Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame on Nov. 7.
Bowers led his teams to four straight 1A/B titles from 2003-06.
The ceremony will take place at the Yakima Convention Center.
Also on the list for induction is former Columbia Basin Junior College wrestler Rockey Isley (coach at Olympia) along with Darryl Smith (Olympic), Bill Stout (Peninsula) and Gaylor Strand (Yelm).

The 2005 graduate was hired to take over the volleyball program earlier this summer. Previous coach Scott Carswell resigned after taking the Lions to their first state tournament in school history last season.

MOSCOW, Idaho -- University of Idaho offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach Steve Axman is retiring.
Axman announced his retirement Monday after a nearly 40-year coaching career. He says he's almost 65 and he and his wife are closing in on their retirement goals.
Axman's first coaching job was at MacArthur High School in his native New York in 1973. His collegiate coaching career included stops at East Stroudsburg State, Army, Illinois, Arizona, Stanford, UCLA, Maryland, Northern Arizona, Minnesota, Washington and Montana.

PULLMAN -- New Washington State football coach Mike Leach announced that special teams coach Eric Russell has been named assistant head coach, and defensive coordinator Mike Breske will coach cornerbacks and safeties.
The names of all nine full-time assistants had already been reported, but Leach did not confirm their names or duties until Friday.
Leach is still looking for a strength and conditioning coach after Chris Dawson apparently had a change of heart and decided to remain at Kansas State.

SEATTLE -- Former Walla Walla standout and NFL linebacker Peter Sirmon is returning to the Northwest to coach at the University of Washington.
Sirmon is joining Justin Wilcox in leaving Tennessee to coach the defensive side of the ball for the Huskies, UW announced Monday.
Wilcox, the former defensive coordinator at Boise State before joining the Vols, will replaced fired coordinator Nick Holt. Sirmon served as linebackers coach at Tennessee and will hold the same position at Washington.
