Southridge beats Sunnyside 20-19 in CBBN 3A opener
There may never again be another six-interception game that features such thrilling quarterback play as Thursday night's tilt between Southridge and Sunnyside.
The Suns rallied from 12 points down, pitching a shutout in the second half and going ahead on Chris Haueter's twisting 5-yard touchdown run -- and Conner Mertens' clutch extra point -- for a 20-19 win over a feisty Grizzlies bunch at Lampson Stadium.
"We remembered two weeks ago in Wenatchee. They were down at the half, and they came out and beat us by one point," said Haueter, who finished with 200 total yards. "We said, 'We have to do this.' "
