RICHLAND -- Hanford gritted its chattering teeth, dominated the lanes and defended its title in chilly conditions at the 13th annual Tri-Cities Championship at George Prout Pool in Richland.
The Falcons scored 364 points to outpace Richland (246) and Southridge (209).
Hanford took the top spot in 11 of 12 events, with double victories posted by Kristen Bennett (200 IM, 500 Free), Stephanie Tixier (200 Free, 100 Free) and Christine Tixier (100 Fly, 100 Breast).
Mikaela Niles of Southridge won the diving with a mark of 180.05.

FEDERAL WAY -- The Richland and Hanford girls swim teams tied for first place with 438 points apiece as the east-side dominated the field in the Mukilteo Invite at King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way.
"Richland was leading going into the last relay," Bombers/Falcons swim coach Kathy Piper said of the tight race. "It made for quite an enjoyable bus ride home, both of them having won today."
Richland's Lisa Bratton dialed up the lone meet record with first-place state-qualifying time of 2 minutes, 5.87 seconds in the 200 IM race.

RICHLAND -- The Richland and Hanford girls swimming teams pulled off a rare first-place tie at last weekend's Mukilteo Invitational in Federal Way.
Though it was close, there was only one winner Saturday at the Tri-City Championships at Serier Pool in Kennewick.
With 339 points, the Bombers seized the trophy from the two-time defending champion Falcons, who had 331.

RICHLAND -- Under the lights at George Prout Pool, several state-qualifying times were recorded during the Richland Twilight Jamboree.
Hanford senior Melissa Merrill clocked in at 25.40 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle. She also competed in the 400 freestyle relay (3 minutes, 43.99 seconds) and 200 medley relay (1:57.90).
Merrill, junior Stephanie Tixier and sophomore Lisa Tixier were on Hanford's 400 free and 200 medley relay teams. They were joined by Mylie Oberg in the 400 free and sophomore Taylor Fievez in the 200 medley.
