Wine and Dine Oct. 13 at Ice Harbor Brewery
Masquerade Winery in Benton City will be featured at the
Oct. 13 Wine and Dine event at Ice Harbor Brewery at the Marina, 350 Clover Island Drive, Kennewick.
The event begins at 6 p.m. with a presentation by a representative of the winery.
The menu features shiso tempura, arugula endive salad with a white wine vinaigrette, rosemary and garlic lamb chops with asparagus and jasmine rice followed by praline pound cake served with crme anglais and seasonal berries.
Each course is paired with a Masquerade wine.
The cost is $50 per person. Tickets must be bought in advance.

Brewmaster's dinner has beer for each course
Ice Harbor at the Marina in Kennewick is holding a brewmaster's dinner at 6 p.m.
Oct. 28 at the restaurant, 350 Clover Island Drive.
The evening will start with German beer cheese served on rye rounds followed with a brown beer onion soup and rustic sour dough bread. The entree is filet mignon with mustard barleywine sauce served over jasmine rice followed by Stout Floats. Each course will be paired with a brew.
One of the Ice Harbor Brewery brewers will give a presentation before the meal.
Cost is $50 per person, cash or check only. Tickets must be bought ahead.

PROSSER -- One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest will kick off the Valley Theater Company's 2012 Must-See Movie lineup Jan. 21 at the Princess Theatre in downtown Prosser.
Each film in the 12-movie season will be preceded by a beer and wine social for the 21-and-older crowd. Drinks will be served for $5 a glass.
This is the first year the theater company will offer season passes for $50. That means season ticket holders can attend all 12 movies for the price of 10 screenings. Individual tickets are $5. There is no cover charge for the social.

Trick-or-treating, children's parties
-- A Halloween party for kids 5 to 12 will be at the Columbia Gymnastics Academy, 1523 Fowler St. in Richland. The costume party is from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 22. Admission is $10. There will be two bounce houses, a rope swing, a mummy wrap game, foam pits, costume contests, cookies to decorate and more.

Food for Thought: Take pick of beer festivals this month
The beer will be flowing in Eastern Washington come late September. There are two beer festivals scheduled the weekend of Sept. 23-24, one in Ephrata, another in Spokane. Both are just a tankful of gas away from the Tri-Cities.
On Sept. 24, there's the inaugural Brewers' Harvest Expo in Ephrata with nine Eastern Washington breweries, and one from the west side, pouring samples of their brews.
The expo is from noon to 6 p.m. at the Grant County Courthouse in Ephrata. Admission is $25 for beer drinkers and $5 for designated drivers who will get free soft drinks and water.

Food for Thought: Jazz, wine featured at festival
Head to Walla Walla at the end of August if you enjoy swinging jazz, superb wines and delicious food. "Jazz and Wine Among Friends," a fundraiser for Friends of Children of Walla Walla, a nonprofit mentoring organization, runs from Aug. 26-28 in downtown Walla Walla.
On Aug. 26, five jazz groups will be playing at wineries, a brewery and the Marcus Whitman Hotel. To see the lineup go to www.wallawallafriends.org and click on "Events." Tickets are $20 and include access to all five concerts.
The festivities Aug. 27 include two outdoor performances at Waterbrook Winery's West Highway 12 location. Local musicians Pete Crawford, Dave Glenn and their band will play from 6:30 to 7:15 p.m., opening for Seattle's Gail Pettis Quartet who will play from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets cost $60 and will include gourmet appetizers and desserts and a glass of Waterbrook wine.

He opened the first one -- Atomic Ale Brew Pub & Eatery in Richland -- 15 years ago.
