SPOKANE -- Nothing is finalized, but there are growing indications that the Spokane Shock soon will be part of the top tier of a revamped arena football league.
Shock majority owner Brady Nelson told the Spokesman-Review that he can't discuss specifics because details are still being worked out, but the new league could have 12-15 teams, including four former af2 franchises, several from the defunct AFL and a few expansion teams.
Former af2 teams could include Spokane, Tulsa, Iowa and Milwaukee. Utah, Arizona, San Jose, Orlando, Tampa Bay and Chicago -- all part of the AFL, which folded after the 2008 season -- have been mentioned as candidates for the new league.
There's also expected to be a lower-tier league that would include Boise and Tri-Cities, Spokane's rivals in the af2 West Division.
At this point, crossover games aren't anticipated.

The eight schools will form a new league featuring four Class 4A schools and four Class 3A schools.
"The next step is the athletic directors and principals will begin the process of putting together the league schedules, developing new bylaws for the new league and working with students and staff for a new name of the league and logos and those types of things," said Richland Superintendent Jim Busey.

KENNEWICK -- Invitations to Canada's National Junior team camp were handed out Monday, but none were extended to Tri-City Americans players.
Forwards Patrick Holland and Justin Feser, along with defenseman Zach Yuen, were invited to play in the Subway Super Series earlier this month. The two-game series against Team Russia was the final opportunity for players to impress Canada coach Don Hay and Kevin Prendergast, Hockey Canada's head scout.
"It was a good opportunity and I gave it my best shot," Feser said of the Super Series. "That's all I can ask of myself. Staying here, I get stay with the team. We have jelled as a team and our team bonding is great and that shows on the ice and with the wins."
