RICHLAND -- Alison Alderman capped a busy first half with her goal about a minute before the break, and West Valley made the one-goal lead stand up through a scoreless second half for a 2-1 victory at Hanford on Saturday.
Alderman's shot came a few minutes after Hanford's Deanna Quadrel knotted the game at a goal each off an assist from Haille Heid. The Rams struck quickly in the CBBN 3A contest, with Sandy Hanses connecting in the first minute.
The loss leaves the Falcons in a three-way logjam for third place at 3-2 with the Rams and Eastmont, which posted a 3-2 win over Pasco.

KENNEWICK -- Heather Johnson scored twice and Southridge's defense put the clamps on Pasco in a 3-0 win over the Bulldogs on Tuesday night at Southridge High.
The victory pushed the Suns, who placed third in state last fall, to 2-0 in the CBBN 3A and 4-0 overall.
Johnson, the 3A player of the year as a junior, scored in the 30th minute and again in the 79th as Southridge outshot Pasco 15-2.

KENNEWICK -- Southridge's Brooke Benecke scored in the 39th minute and the Suns eclipsed Kamiakin 4-2 in the shootout to earn a 2-1 victory in a CBBN 3A game at Kamiakin.
"Both teams played well," Kamiakin coach Chris Erikson said. "It was a very even game."
The victory gives the Suns an undefeated run through the CBBN and a bye in the district tournament. Kamiakin, which finished second in league, will host the winner of Eastmont-Hanford on Saturday.

KENNEWICK -- Heather Johnson did a little bit of everything Tuesday for the Southridge girls soccer team.
Johnson scored two goals in regulation, added the game-winner in the shootout and played goalie during the shootout, leading the Suns to a 6-5 shootout win at Hanford in CBBN 3A action.
"It was a wild game," Hanford assistant coach Glen Ledgerwood said. "It was a fun game to watch, though we weren't expecting anything like that.

KENNEWICK -- Deanna Quadrel scored off an assist from Collette Gall in the 32nd minute and then led the assault in the shootout as Hanford posted a 2-1 CBBN 3A girls soccer victory over Kamiakin at Lampson Stadium on Tuesday night.
Quadrel combined forces with Sydney Shintaffer, Bailey Ruby and Savanna Steele to outscore the Braves 4-2 in the shootout.
Kyra Brannan scored for Kamiakin off an assist from Chandra Stevenson in the 57th minute to knot the game at 1-1, and Taylor Shutzenhofer and Stevenson connected for the Braves in the shootout.
