The Walla Walla County Rural Library District is offering a new online language-learning resource to patrons called Mango Languages.
Mango is an online language learning system that focuses on teaching conversation skills for a wide variety of languages. Each lesson combines real-life situations and audio from native speakers with an easy-to-follow interface and simple, clear instructions.
Mango Languages currently offers 12 language courses: Spanish, French, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Greek, Russian, English for Spanish speakers, English for Brazilian Portuguese speakers and English for Polish speakers.
The Walla Walla County Rural Library District will provide drop-in demonstrations of the language program at several libraries. The schedule is as follows:
w Burbank Library, 875 Lake Road: Sept. 23, noon to 8 p.m. and Sept. 26, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
w Prescott Library, 103 S. D St.: Sept. 24, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
w Vista Hermosa Library, 76 Sarah Lynne Lane: Sept. 24, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
w Touchet Library, 161 Hanson Road: Sept. 30, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

AARP volunteers are offering free income tax help for senior citizens from Feb. 1 to April 16 throughout the Tri-Cities.
The help is free and the tax return will be filed online for free.

For Richland, volunteers will offer help at the Richland library and Richland Community Center and in Pasco at the Pasco library and the Pasco Senior Center. Benton City will have volunteers available at the Benton City library.

The Franklin County elections staff is encouraging voters to attend its Voter Information Night on Thursday.
Voting information will be provided in English and Spanish from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mid-Columbia Library's Pasco branch, 1320 West Hopkins St.
Cristina Labra, minority language coordinator for the Office of Secretary of State's Voter Outreach team, will join the Franklin County election staff at the event to answer questions.
