Hanging from the Toyota Center rafters at center ice are the Americans' U.S. Division banner and WHL regular season champion banner from 2008. New among the two red banners are four revamped banners honoring the greats who have played for the Americans.
Olie Kolzig, Stu Barnes and Brian Sakic's banners are in the team's retro black, white and gold, while the late Todd Klassen's banner is in the current red, white and blue motif.
The banners are classy. Much better than the old ones that hung at the Zamboni end of the rink and were covered in years worth of dirt and grime.
And, if you look above the banners, you will see a shiny silver box with horns -- large air horns. The front office staff isn't saying exactly what the purpose of the horns is, but I think they will blare loud and proud for each Tri-City goal.
Of course, all this means is that my husband will want to get bigger air horns to go with the flashing red light on his helmet.

Happy to report the Ams beat the Portland Winterhawks 5-4 in a shootout Saturday afternoon. Shinny scored the goal in the shootout to put the Ams at 2-0 in the preseason.
Swedish forward Malte Strömwall scored his first goal and Justin Feser had a goal and two assists. I've discovered that Kennewick High School has a Swedish exchange student and I may be able to get some help in the future when I need more than a couple of quotes.
Tri-City has 31 guys on its roster and some of the young ones will be going home after the Red Lion Tournament this weekend at Toyota Center. The Ams still have five 20s and two will have to go. Shinny was the only one to play both games this weekend.
