Richland set to honor Covington

By the Herald staff

RICHLAND -- Richland High School will honor former football coach J.D. Covington prior to Friday's Columbia Basin Big Nine Cascade opener against Eastmont at Fran Rish Stadium.

Covington led the Bombers from 1971-85, going 110-43 and winning the 1981 state title among his seven playoff appearances.

The school is asking that all players and coaches during Covington's career arrive prior to the 7 p.m. festivities and gather on the sideline.
