LAS VEGAS The Spokane Shock rode a huge second half to a 74-27 victory Saturday night in front of an announced crowd of 5,846 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, giving the Shock its second ArenaCup title in four years and easing some of the pain of last years loss in the championship game.
The 47-point margin was easily the largest in ArenaCup history.
Spokanes 23-point win in 2006 is the second largest in history.
Pasco High graduate Raul Vijil finished with three touchdown catches for Spokane.

SPOKANE -- The Tri-City Americans got off to a hot start and led wire-to-wire in handing the Spokane Chiefs a 4-1 loss Saturday night before an announced crowd of 9,856 at Spokane Arena.
"I thought we played very well," Tri-City coach Jim Hiller said. "It's the best game our group of defensemen have played all year. We did a good job of having numbers back and our blue line not giving them easy entries."
The Americans (12-5-0-0) held on to the top spot in the U.S. Division with 24 points. The Portland Winterhawks also have 24 points, but Tri-City has three games in hand.

SPOKANE -- When it rains, it pours.
The Spokane Chiefs flooded the Tri-City Americans' net with seven goals Saturday night, winning their home opener 7-2 at Spokane Arena.
It was the first lost of the season for Tri-City (3-1-0-0), which beat Spokane (1-1-0-0) last weekend in its home opener.

SPOKANE -- Brendan Shinnimin had two goals and an assist to lead the Tri-City Americans to a 5-3 victory Saturday over the Spokane Chiefs at Spokane Arena.
The win keeps the Americans (38-14-1-1, 78 points) one point ahead of Portland (37-15-2-1) in the race for the U.S. Division title.
"Tonight, I thought, was our biggest game of the year," Tri-City coach Jim Hiller said. "Not playing well last night and coming into a tough building, it was a great win.

After tonight, the Americans embark on a five-game road trip including three games in the Central Division against Kootenay, Medicine Hat and Lethbridge. Tri-City returns to Toyota Center Nov. 19th against Kamloops.

It’s opening night for the Americans and Chiefs here at Toyota Center. It’s quiet right now (5:30 p.m.), but I suspect there won’t be many, if any, empty seats come drop of the puck.
A full house here is about 5,900, more if you count the standing room only. Last night, Kennewick and Kamiakin filled Lampson Stadium (6,800). Saddest thing I saw today were all the empty seats at the Yale Bowl, where Yale beat Cornell 37-17. I watched part of this game flipping through the channels. There couldn’t have been more than 3,000 or 4,000 fans there, though the official box score said there was 14,345 capacity is 61,446. Maybe it just looked that empty since there were no fans in the end zones or past the 40-yard line on either side.
