KEARNS, Utah -- A pair of high-powered offenses ran into good pitching Sunday, and the Kennewick Bandits were edged by Laurel, Mont., 2-1 at the AA American Legion regionals in Kearns, Utah.
The Bandits and Laurel, which combined for 47 runs Saturday, were the last two remaining unbeaten teams in the double-elimination tournament.
Brian Bowe started for Kennewick and threw six strong innings before giving way to Brock Marston for two innings of shutout relief.
Laurel's Clay Graber went the distance and gave up seven hits to the Bandits, including three to Mike McAdie and a double to Ty Jackson.
"Brian Bowe threw a great game, and then Brock came in and threw well," Bandits coach Dave Price said. "They both threw well, we just couldn't get any timely hitting. We couldn't get that timely hit when we needed it."
The Bandits face a loser-out game at 6 p.m. today against Powell, Wyo., the team they beat 24-7 on Saturday.
The winner will play Laurel in the championship Tuesday, needing to beat the Montana team twice.

KENNEWICK -- The moment the referee ruled the ball a fumble, the Kennewick defenders told Grant Woods not to worry they'd get the ball back.
The Lions did just that all Friday night long, dominating Mt. Spokane 27-0 in a Class 3A regional football playoff game at Lampson Stadium.
Woods fumbled inside the 15-yard line early in the third quarter and the Wildcats took the next two plays 35 yards. But the Lions defense stiffened and forced a punt.
