Dylan Stanley played his entire WHL career for the Americans, and after three years at the University of Alberta, he took his game overseas last year, playing for the Rosenheim Star Bulls in Germany.
"It was absolutely awesome," said Stanley, who said he was returning to Germany for a second season. "It was a great time living in a different country, exploring the world and playing hockey."
Dylan, who was in town last week for Olie and Stu's Desert Bash, should finish his marketing degree this summer before turning to Germany, where he led the Star Bulls with 45 goals and 73 assists last season.
While in the Tri-Cities, Dylan was able to catch up with a few of his former Tri-City teammates.
"It's great coming back here and hanging out with the guys -- Carey, Tyler, Ben, Chet, a bunch of the younger guys that played the last couple of years and the older guys that came before us," he said. "It's really starting to turn into a Tri-City Americans atmosphere, and being able to help out with the charity is nice.
"It's hard to keep in touch in the hockey world because we are gone for the winters and we try to meet up in the summers maybe once or twice. But coming down here it's so beautiful, we enjoy golf and we have a couple of soda pops at night. It's nice to get together."
Unlike most jersey numbers, which get recycled year after year, not one Americans player has requested No. 51 since Stanley left. For the Star Bulls, he wears No. 91.

Tri-City fans missed out on Modano
One of the big regrets during my decade of covering the Western Hockey League was missing the chance to see Mike Modano play in the Tri-Cities Coliseum.
He was viewed as of those "can't-miss" players in the WHL during the 1988-89 season, which was the first for Tri-City Americans.
Sometimes, the pundits do get it right. Modano, age 41, retired Friday as the top scoring American-born player in National Hockey League history, a Stanley Cup winner and a sure-fire Hall of Famer.
