Cody Shepherd was a double short of a cycle, Devan Willis had three RBIs and the Twin City Titans beat Centralia Sobe Toyota 15-11 at the AAA American Legion state tournament in Tacoma.
But things weren't so rosy for the Kennewick Bandits, who lost 16-0 to Lakeside Recovery.
"Our pitchers, collectively, had an off day," said Bandits coach Gary Key. "It was bound to happen. And when you rely heavily your offense, like we've done the last two weeks, it's bound to get into a situation where your pitching can't keep you in the game."
The Titans (36-21) play Lakeisde today at 6 p.m., following a 3 p.m. contest between the Bandits (41-17) and the Yakima Valley Pepsi Pak, which defeated the Yakima Beetles 7-4 Monday afternoon.
"In our league series, we split with them," Key said of the Pak. "They won two at our place, we won two at their place."

KENNEWICK -- Nervous energy abounded at the far end of the Benton County Fairgrounds on Tuesday morning.
Youngsters and their horses were lined up in a large show ring. Horses whinnied and shifted from side to side. Kids held fast to lead ropes, trying hard to keep their steeds positioned just so for the judges.
It was day one of the 4-H and FFA horse performance competition and everyone was slightly on edge.

I would like to congratulate Gesa on Sylvester Street in Pasco on their catching of the youngest bandit ever one recent afternoon. My daughter in-law Stefanie and son Doug were at the bank yesterday with their 4-month-old son Finnegan.
I came over to the bank to sign off on a check for my son. My daughter in-law had to take Finn to the car and drive him around the parking lot to get him settled down and to sleep. As we both came out to the parking lot, two police cars were next to my car, with officers looking like they were ready to pounce on someone.
My son and his family left first, and the police were right behind them in hot pursuit. Apparently someone from the bank called the police because someone in a white car was circling around the parking lot at the bank (that would be Stef and baby Finn). Police pulled them over, and presumably after doing background check on Finnegan, they decided to let him go. Finnegan, the youngest suspected bank robber in modern history!
