TACOMA -- Thomas Henderson hit for the cycle, completing the feat with a seventh-inning grand slam that capped the Kennewick Bandits' 22-4 victory over the Yakima Beetles in the opening game of the Senior American Legion state tournament in Tacoma.
Andrew Mendenhall also hit a grand slam for Kennewick (40-16), his coming as part of an eight-run first inning.
The Bandits pounded out 20 hits.
The win sets up a showdown with their crossriver rival, the Twin City Titans, at 4 p.m. today in the double-elimination tournament.
The Titans defeated the Spokane Blue Devils 13-3 in their opener.
Brett Jacobs went 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles and a homer, and Mike Dunford and Shawn O'Brien also homered for Twin City (35-20).

Three twisted, scarred and battered steel beams from one of New York City's twin towers will come to rest Sunday in Kennewick's Southridge complex.
The piece of ground zero will serve as the Tri-Cities' memorial to the 9/11 attacks.
"This is sacred," Kennewick Fire Marshal Mark Yaden said, talking about the emotional connection he and others in public safety have in remembering the 2,977 lives lost in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001.

The city of Kennewick will hold a grand opening celebration from 1 to 4 p.m. Sept. 11 for its new sports event complex near Southridge High School.
The event also features a special dedication ceremony that will unveil the memorial artifact from the World Trade Center's twin towers that were destroyed in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
The open house features a lacrosse demonstration, soccer shootout, food, games, a bouncy house and a home run derby for kids. Admission is free.
