KANNAPOLIS, N.C. -- Clint Jensen birdied the first playoff hole on Saturday at the eGolf Professional Tour Southern Open to win the title and the $30,000 first-place prize.
The win moves the former Richland resident to No. 5 on the tour's 2009 earnings list, with an aggregate of $58,000.
Jensen started the day trailing overnight leader Colin Biles by four, but Jensen kept a steady pace at The Club at Irish Creek.
Jensen birdied his first nine holes and bogeyed the par-4 10th to find himself two shots behind the new leader, South Africa's Christo Greyling.
Greyling expanded his lead over Jensen to four with birdies on hole Nos. 12, 13 and 14, but Jensen plugged away, answering with birdies on hole Nos. 14 and 16. Meanwhile, Jeremy Pope birdied 13, eagled 14 and birdied 16 to stay in contention.
Jensen earned his win in a sudden-death playoff between himself, Greyling and Pope -- all three had finished tied at 13-under 300.
