PROSSER Twenty-three children will take to the stage July 17 for two free performances of The Jungle Book at Central Christian Church in Prosser as part of the Prosser Conservatory of Theatre for Children's summer program.
The shows are at 2 and 7 p.m. at the church at 1000 Sixth St.
"There's going to be some dance steps and singing," said James Goth, vice president of the conservatory. "I think it's going to be pretty great."
Carol Goth, the conservatory's executive director, said the children had a hand in designing sets, creating costumes and other behind-the-scenes activities.
The performances are the culmination of weeks of work.
"We have several kids who are really promising actors," Carol Goth said. "I love this because you get to see all kinds of kids."
Carol Goth created the play's score and is looking forward to giving the audience a new take on Rudyard Kipling's classic collection of stories from late 1800s.
"I think it's going to be different from what they're expecting," Carol Goth said.
