OLYMPIA -- A marathon day came up just short of a grand finish for the Washington Angels, the Tri-City-based ASA team that finished second in the state Sunday.
The Angels lost 11-4 to the Yakima Steelers, the second time the neighboring team beat the Angels in the tourney.
To reach the championship game, the Angels had to win three loser-out games earlier in the day, including a 4-3 victory over the Kent Tigers on Emma Lochridge's walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth to start the day.
In a 7-2 win over Selah, Christina Ramsey went 4-for-4 and drove in four runs, and Paige Goulet was 3-for-3.
In the semifinals, Stephanie Rojas tossed a two-hitter in a 5-2 win over the Kelso Slammers.
For the day, Lochridge went 10-for-13 (.769), and Ramsey drove in six runs.
The Angels qualified for regionals, which start Friday at Delta Park in Portland.
