KENNEWICK -- The Kennewick Bandits benefitted from a pair of strong pitching performances in sweeping a Central Washington League AAA Legion doubleheader Wednesday from the Hanford Flames at Southridge High.
In the opener, Britt Hammer tossed a six-inning three-hitter, and Trux French ended the game with a two-run homer with none out in the sixth as the Bandits (27-8, 14-2) won 10-0.
In the nightcap, Landon Scott allowed one run over six innings and Kennewick completed the sweep with a 7-1 win.

KENNEWICK -- It took four weeks, but the 2011 CBBN football season finally got to its first "game of the year."
Tonight's 7:30 matchup at Lampson Stadium between the No. 10 Kennewick Lions and No. 5 Kamiakin Braves will pit arguably the CBBN's two most dominant teams to start the season.
The Braves and Lions both come into the game at 3-0 overall, 1-0 in CBBN 3A play. Both have rolled over their opponents: Kennewick by a combined 128-6 and Kamiakin 120-47.

A 41-year-old married Kennewick man is accused of attacking his girlfriend with a hammer during a fight Monday night, police said.
The 32-year-old Kennewick woman suffered several broken bones on her face, arm and hand. She was able to call police after running to a neighbor's apartment, said Kennewick police Sgt. Ken Lattin.
When officers arrived at the apartment complex at 530 N. Edison St., they discovered that Patrick C. Fairley apparently lives in an apartment there with his wife and girlfriend, Lattin said.

Two Southridge High grads, outfielder Andrew Mendenhall and pitcher Tyler Roberts, will be playing after their college seasons at Oregon and Campbellsville, respectively, are done.

Bobby Wilkinson gained 186 yards for the Lions.
* 1976 -- Buckaroo Bandit, who nabbed the last qualifying spot thanks to a tiebreaker dice roll, came home the winner of the Pot O'Gold Quarter Horse Futurity at Sun Downs. Bandit, owned by Roy Dane, paid $14.20 to win. Holy Smoke, owned by Ed and Betty McKay, who had tied Bandit for 10th in qualifying, missed out on the final but came back to win the Futurity Consolation.
