Sometimes, life is a blur. So, its important to take time to create special moments ones well hold onto for a lifetime.
Thats exactly what my husband, Bill, planned to do when our great-nephews came for a visit.
Ive got something to show Jeremy and Joshua when they get here, Bill declared with impish glee.
And what would that be? I asked warily. Its not that gopher trap you set up, is it?
By the tone of his voice and the playful look in his eye, I knew he had something up his sleeve, although hed found a better location for his mischievousness.
Nah, its not that, he reassured me. This is even better. This is a REAL gopher trap, and Ive got it in a gunny sack in the shed.
My suspicions were confirmed. An unforgettable moment was about to take place.
Aunt Lucy! Uncle Bill! Were finally here!" the boys exclaimed as they raced from their car, parents in tow. We couldnt wait to get here.
Bill could hardly wait either.
Listen, he said, slyly. Ive got something to show you outdoors.
Moments later, suitcases flung into their bedroom, the kids raced outside with Bill.
I stayed inside with their parents; safe insulated from the action with the smell of chocolate chip cookies filling the air.
And then the front door burst open.
Aunt Lucy! Look at what we have!! the boys shouted, as Jeremy reached out to give me a closer look.
In his hands was the biggest bull snake Id ever seen, wriggling and twisting in an effort to make a quick getaway.
I couldnt help but shudder.
If this snake escaped, I had a feeling the rest of our day would be a blur. It was one special moment we didnt need in anybodys memory bank!

Our bridges, roads and other infrastructure need to be repaired. Looked what happened in Minnesota! Look at our roads here in the Tri-Cities that need to be fixed. Other places that need bridges replaced. Look at the East Coast with the damages from the hurricane, roads washed out, bridges damaged. Imagine how many people could go to work to get these things fixed. Yes, I know, there are people who don't want the government to get involved. But wait a minute, who is the government? We the People.
It doesn't matter anymore what political party/philosophy you believe in. What should matter is what our elected representatives are going to do to help this country. I understand the need to cut the deficit. This was something that should have been done during the Bush administration, but it wasn't, because decisions were made to "help" the country (and fight two wars and cut taxes for the millionaires). So what is the real reason that a group of politicians don't want to do anything to help their country.

The narrative of Eli Manning as the cool and collected Super Bowl champion is a fraud. At least, that's what some inside the league will tell you. Wisdom of crowds can be a powerful thing, though, especially when it makes for a good story.
