WALLA WALLA -- Registration is under way for summer activities offered by the 4-H Youth Program and Washington State University Extension in Walla Walla. Classes are:
w Quilting: Registration deadline is 5 p.m. June 11. Students must have completed the fourth grade to be enrolled. The orientation meeting for parents and students will be at 1 p.m. June 12 in the WSU Extension office, 328 W. Poplar St. A trip to the fabric store will follow the meeting. Classes will be from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 22-26 at the home economics classroom of DeSales High School, 919 E. Sumach St., Walla Walla. Students should bring a sack lunch to class. Fee is $10 but does not include fabric cost.
w The Wonders of Watercolor: Registration deadline is 5 p.m. June 11. Class will be June 15-18 in the WSU Extension office, 328 W. Poplar St., Walla Walla. Youth grades 1-3 will have class from 9 to 10 a.m. and youth fourth grade and above will have class from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Fee is $5 and includes paint supplies.
w Stamping Scrapbook and Card Making Class: Registration deadline is 5 p.m. June 29. Students will complete a ten-page scrapbook and a card during the class. Class will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. July 1-2 in the WSU Extension office, 328 W. Poplar St., Walla Walla. Participants must be first grade and above. Fee is $5 and includes materials.

WALLA WALLA -- A dog obedience clinic will start with an introductory meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the WSU extension office, 328 W. Poplar, Walla Walla.
Sessions will be available at 9, 10 or 11 a.m. Jan. 21 and 28, Feb. 4 and 11. All sessions are at the Lions Clubhouse at Lions Park, 801 Larch St., College Place.
All participants must submit the registration form, the $20 class fee and proof of current vaccinations.

PULLMAN The newly designed, all-crimson, Washington State University vehicle license plate is now available for sale from the state Department of Licensing.
Inspired by the design of WSU’s "Ol’ Crimson” flag, the new plate features silvery-white WSU Cougar logo and lettering on a solid crimson plate. It is available at an initial cost of $40, plus regular vehicle registration fees and cost an additional $30 annually thereafter. Check your local DOL office for exact fees.
A full $28 of each Cougar plate fee is returned to the university each year as a tax-deductible donation to the WSU scholarship fund.

The seventh annual Prosser 'Thank You Vets' Parade is at 11 a.m. Nov. 11. All are invited to join the parade. Line up begins at 10:15 a.m. near Keene-Riverview School and follows the traditional States Day route.

PULLMAN - Washington State University this year experienced a record fall semester enrollment, with a total of 27,008 students enrolling across the university’s four campuses.
The new figure surpasses by nearly four percent last fall’s system-wide enrollment total of 25,989. For the second year in a row, fall enrollment at the Pullman campus also surpassed the 20,000 mark, with a total enrollment of 21,016 students, up from 20,058 in 2010. Pullman enrollment figures also include distance students served by the Pullman campus.
WSU Tri-Cities, in its fifth year of accepting freshman, saw 97 new freshmen and 216 transfers. The average grade point for the WSU Tri-Cities freshman class is 3.31, with 96.9 percent being Washington residents. Total enrollment on the WSU Tri-Cities campus is 1,520, a decline of 1.81 percent from 1,548 enrolled in fall 2010.
