The body of a man pulled from the Columbia River on Saturday has been identified as Nathan Seeley, 29, said Benton County Coroner Rick Corson.
Seeley recently had moved from California to Kennewick, where he had been living with his mother until she moved out of town in April, said Sgt. Kirk Isakson of the Kennewick Police Department.
Seeley evidently continued to live in the Tri-Cities, where he had friends. But his mother became concerned when she did not hear for him for about four weeks. She called police May 20.
According to information in the police report compiled then, Seeley may have been seen about May 1. Kennewick police are hoping that anyone who had seen Seeley in recent weeks will call them.
The Benton County Sheriff's Office does not suspect he died as the result of a crime, said Cpl. Chuck Jones. An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday.
Seeley's body was spotted by a fisherman on the rugged Benton County side of the Columbia River near Port Kelley above McNary Dam and below Wallula Junction about 5 p.m. Saturday. Columbia Basin Dive Rescue recovered the body.
A week earlier the body of Bradley Jason Novak Jr. was found about 4 miles upriver, but Seeley's death does not appear to be related, Jones said. Novak and his girlfriend, Julianne Elizabeth Keel, 25, are believed to have left in a canoe from Hover Park in east Kennewick earlier this month.
Novak drowned. Columbia Basin Dive Rescue continues to search the river for Keel. Novak and Keel were reported missing May 6.
