SUNNYSIDE -- Hanford earned four entries into next week's state 3A tennis tournament, as the Falcons finished off a strong weekend at the 3A regional tournament.
Hanford's Luke Thompson won the boys singles title with a 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 victory over West Valley's Jeff Carlson, and the Falcons also took home regional titles in boys and girls doubles.
Hanford's Curtis Lan and Jake Knox won the boys title, while Cassandra Dicken and Becky Sharpe took the girls.
Sam Merry also qualified for the state meet, finishing second for the Falcons in girls singles after dropping a 6-1, 7-5 championship match to West Valley's Alexis Filliol.
Merry bounced back to beat Mount Spokane's Valerie Nauditt 6-1, 6-1 for the second-place state berth.

4A Regionals: Richland boys win title
YAKIMA -- Richland earned the No. 2 seed to state in both boys singles (Troy Zuroske) and doubles (Chris Shallman and Taylor Dickey), and won the 4A regional title with 20 team points.
Zuroske lost the singles title match to Mead's Ethan Vaughn by a 6-0, 7-5 score.
Shallman and Dickey fell to Wenatchee's Clint Vidano and Hudson Barnhart 7-5, 6-1 in the doubles title match.
Demi Warner and Ali Welch of Kamiakin earned the girls doubles No. 3 berth to state with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 defeat of Molly Mayer and Hannah Waterhouse of Eastmont.
The 4A state tournament begins Friday at Kamiakin.

2A CWAC district: Othello qualfies doubles
SELAH -- Othello will send two doubles teams to the 2A state tournament next week after they won district tournament titles.
Sam Harris and TD Peterson won the boys doubles title, while Jadee Roylance and Jessy Schmidt won the girls doubles crown.

1A SCAC District: Connell players advance
BENTON CITY -- Connell's Bradley Fox and Eduardo Chavez teamed to win the boys doubles title at the 1A SCAC district tournament, beating Tyler Slick and Cameron Fisk of Naches Valley 6-4, 6-1 in the title match.
Fox and Chavez advance to the state tournament, which begins Friday in Yakima.
Joining them will be Connell teammates Calvin Fox and Stockton Taylor, who finished fourth in boys doubles; Connell's Tabatha Bear, who finished second in girls singles; and the Connell girls doubles team of Lauren Booker and Anali Galvez, who finished fourth.
Royal's Emily Hoelscher also qualified for state, placing fourth in girls singles play.
