Golf roundup: Richland sophomore medalist at girls district

MOSES LAKE -- Sophomore Mary McDonald of Richland shot 1-under-par 71 to earn medalist honors in the Columbia Basin Big Nine district golf tournament at Moses Lake Golf Club.

Teammates Kristen Strankman shot a 77 for second-place, and senior Brittany Zier (82), junior Madison Hamm (89) and freshman Hope Niedhold (90) qualified for state as the Bombers took first overall with a team score of 324.

Samson Martinez (146) and Saul Martinez (150) of Pasco, Southridge's Justin Sprengel (152) and Kamiakin's Riley Hayfield (152) also qualified for state.
