Softball roundup: Kamiakin takes control of district seed

By the Herald staff

WALLA WALLA -- Kamiakin scored an unearned run in the top of the 10th inning, and Lindsey Kamphius shut down Walla Walla in the bottom half as the Braves earned a split of the Columbia Basin Big Nine Cascade Division doubleheader with a 3-2 victory.

The split puts Kamiakin in control of the race for the division's No. 1 district seed because it holds the number draw on Wa-Hi. The Braves can clinch the top seed by sweeping Eastmont on Tuesday.

Wa-Hi left 15 runners on base in Game 2 after Kamiakin stranded seven in the opener and hit into a pair of double plays.

Walla Walla won the opener 4-0 behind the pitching of Alexis Bobadilla.
