Samson Martinez of Pasco shot an even-par 72 on Monday at Spokane Country Club to finish in a tie for second at the Inland Empire tournament, one stroke behind medalist Peter Gullickson of Lewis & Clark.
Results of the tournament were not reported to the Herald until Wednesday.
Kamiakin's Jordan Bohlander shot a 76 and finished in a three-way tie for sixth along with Walla Walla's Jake Hansen. Hanford had two golfers tie for ninth -- Josh Harvey and Alex Cantu -- at 76 along with Kamiakin's Rick Gleed and Wa-Hi's Drew Reinland.
Hanford sophomore Scott Kim, who has won the past two CBBN pod matches, tied for 15th with a 78.
Hanford and Kamiakin finished in a tie for third among the 23 teams taking part with a 318 total, four shots behind LC. Walla Walla was another stroke back in a tie for fifth.
Othello's girls placed seventh out of 24 teams at the Suncadia Invite played Tuesday with a 418 total. The Huskies were paced by Ashley Amoruso, who tied for seventh with a 90. Prosser finished 19th with a 515 total. The boys Suncadia event is scheduled for Tuesday.

PASCO -- The Chiawana Riverhawks played with a mission Saturday night.
Behind Delaney Hodgins' 23 points, the host Riverhawks (5-1) routed Walla Walla 63-39 to create a first-place tie with the Blue Devils and Wenatchee in the CBBN 4A.
"It was the best overall team game we've had all year," Chiawana coach Steve Davis said.

EASTMONT -- One element Hanford has been lacking so far through four nonleague games has been clutch shooting.
Brennan Sutey, a 6-foot-1 junior guard, gave a textbook example of it in the Falcons' CBBN 3A opener, hitting a
3-pointer with three seconds remaining in overtime to lift Hanford to a 55-52 win over Eastmont.
"(Eastmont) tied it up with 18 seconds left. We were going to go for one shot," said Falcons coach Paul Mayer. "Brennan came off a cut and ended up standing wide open. He swished it."

KENNEWICK The Southridge boys basketball team was all but left for dead two weeks ago after losing eight of nine CBBN 3A matchups.
However, after pulling out its latest league win -- a 77-75 double-overtime victory over Eastmont in Kennewick -- the Suns are back on track for a playoff berth.
"We're still fighting!" Southridge coach Jason Devere exclaimed after Matt Mendenhall and David Mazzei combined for 47 points against the Wildcats. "This puts us in position to get in the playoffs."

Bryce Leavitt had 21 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists, and Reggie Clinton scored 25 points to lead the Kennewick Lions to an 83-77 win over the Hanford Falcons on Friday in a back-and-forth CBBN 3A contest at the Lions Den.
Joe Douglas scored 27 points and Bear Braich 21 for Hanford, but they couldn't keep the Falcons from suffering their first league loss.
"We were able to make a lot of shots," Kennewick coach Bradyn Leyde said. "Defensively, we need to do a better job."
