PROSSER -- Hanford senior Josh Bland broke a 25-year-old school record in winning the 400 meters Saturday at the 49th annual Prosser Rotary Invite at Art Fiker Stadium, leading the Falcons to the boys team title.
Bland won in an area-best time of 49.59 seconds. He also finished third in the 200, one of three runners to break the old meet record in the event.
Other event winners for the Falcons were Zac Martin (800), Joe Clements (300 hurdles), Shawn Vandermark (high jump) and Kyle Wagar (javelin).
Hanford's girls also won the team title, led by victories by the 4x200 relay team and senior Taymussa Miller in the high jump.
Kiona-Benton senior Katharine Lotze broke the meet record in the triple jump and also bettered her own school record, going 36 feet, 10 inches -- No. 8 on the all-time Mid-Columbia list. She also won the 100 hurdles and took second in the 300s to earn Girls Athlete of the Meet honors.

Kiwanis Invitational
HERMISTON -- Southridge's girls repeated as team champion at the 24th Kiwanis Invite in Hermiston, led by High Point Award winner Kasey McNeill's victories in the 100, 200 and long jump -- the latter with a wind-aided 18-0 jump at Kennison Field.
Kamiakin edged out defending champion Southridge and host Hermiston to capture the boys title, led by senior Cori Nickerson, who won the 400 and ran on both winning relays.
