Obviously, this date was going nowhere. I thought I knew the reason.
After 43 years of marriage, it was too late to make a break for it.
The mid-week date night started off well enough a movie, popcorn and soda pop and seats close to the rear of the theater. Dinner was next on our agenda.
The restaurant was quiet. Genteel waiters took our order and left us to be alone. Music played softly in the background.
No words were said. Our eyes met.
What are you thinking, Bill murmured.
For a moment I was taken aback. Hed stolen my line.
Well, its not really what youd think, I blushed, my thoughts crystallizing in my mind. I was just thinking about...
What? he queried, his eyes searching mine.
Well, I was just wondering..." my words hung in the air.
Yes? Bill prompted.
I took a bite.
Um... I was just wondering and I know this isnt what you thought I was thinking when was the last time I cleaned the cats litter pan, my laughter spilling into the room. I think its overdue.
Bill looked at me in amazement.
Well, he chuckled, I was thinking that I need to get the oil changed on the car. Its overdue, too.
Id have doubled up laughing, but my belt was too tight.
Still, what a good feeling, I reflected, to know that this date was going nowhere except home with me.

Remember it's your wedding
Remember it's your wedding
Dear Dave,
My girlfriend and I recently got engaged, and our parents are contributing financially to the wedding. We've noticed that both sets of parents are pressing their ideas of what they'd like the wedding to be like, who to invite and who to include in the wedding party. I know in the end it's our call, but traditionally do parents have some kind of say if they contribute money to help pay for the wedding?

My New Year’s resolution slip-up
January is when the rubber meets the road. The month when New Year’s resolutions are tested, toughened.
For many determined baby boomers like me, it’s that fragile period of time where strength of will can fall by the wayside. Often our good intentions are sabotaged by someone else a person close, a person we love.
“What do you think,” my husband shouted from the couch while I took down the Christmas decorations, “about taking a walk?”

Mast helps Ams goalies achieve through techniques
KENNEWICK -- There is no way Tri-City Americans goalies Ty Rimmer and Eric Comrie can escape their mistakes. Goaltending coach Lyle Mast has their every move on video.
Then again, the goalies can refer to the videos as learning tools between Mast's visits to the Toyota Center.
"The videos are a huge help," Comrie said. "You see the breakdowns in your game. When coaches tell you things, you can't see what they are talking about, but when you can see, it reinforces what you need to do. We get (memory) sticks of our sessions so we can go back and learn. We talk about it all the time. We communicate really well, and Ty has really helped me adjust to the league. It's great for him to share what he knows."
