YAKIMA -- Kasey McNeill and Chelsea Bourque won two events apiece and also ran on the victorious 400- and 800-meter relay teams to lead the Southridge girls past Pasco, Kennewick and Eisenhower at a four-team CBBN meet in Yakima.
McNeill ran a season-best 12.91 seconds to win the 100 and jumped 16 feet, 43/4 inches in the long jump.
Bourque ran an area-best 47.15 in the 300 hurdles and also won the 100 hurdles in 15.94.
Marisa Vander Malle swept the distance races for Pasco, which went 2-1 on the day.
The Bulldogs swept the boys meet, led by Marques Avery's wins in the 100 and 200 and Jacob Price in the shot and javelin.
-- Walla Walla's boys and Richland's girls swept a four-team meet at Martin Field. Jordan Ness (100, 400), Garrett Gerling (110 and 300 hurdles), Brandon Porter (shot, javelin) and Justin Piek (long and triple jumps) all were double-winners for the Blue Devils.
For the Richland girls, Shaniae Lakes improved upon her area-best in the triple jump, going 38-8 1/4, and also won the 200 and long jump.
-- Kamiakin swept a CBBN dual from Hanford at Richland, led by Cori Nickerson's double in the 200 and high jump in the boys meet and Elise Jepsen's double in the 100 hurdles and triple jump in the girls meet.
Joe Clements swept the boys hurdles races and also won the pole vault for Hanford.

RICHLAND -- The sport of running will never rival the likes of football for attention.
Tonight's football game between Kennewick and Kamiakin high schools figures to fill up the 6,800-seat Lampson Stadium.
The Richland Invite -- the area's biggest regular-season cross country meet -- likely will draw several hundred spectators, mostly family and friends. And even the all-classes state event at Sun Willows Golf Course in Pasco can't compete with a regular-season showdown between city rivals.

Looking at the times of Mid-Columbia swimmers less than a week into the season, one might think the girls state championships in Federal Way were just around the corner, not two months away.
At Saturday's Eastern Washington Jamboree in Prosser, Hailey Rankin of the host Mustangs swam the 100-yard butterfly in a state-qualifying time of 1 minute, 2.32 seconds.
That night, more state qualifiers rolled in at the Richland Twilight Jamboree. Hanford senior Melissa Merrill qualified on her own in the 50 freestyle, then helped the Falcons achieve state-qualifying times in the 400 free and 200 medley relays.
