Richland junior Gina Ojeda shot a 9-over 74 to win the All-CBBN girls golf match Wednesday at Tri-City Country Club.
Ojeda led a Bombers sweep of the top three positions, and Richland put its four scoring golfers in the top 10 in rolling to the team victory by 41 strokes over Southridge.
Ojeda did not play for Richland in the season's first pod match, but a recent hot streak -- including a third straight division victory at the Pasco Invite on Monday -- put her in the top six for Wednesday's match.
Ojeda was one of two new golfers for the Bombers in the second pod. Madison Hamm, who also missed the Moses Lake match, finished second at TCCC, seven shots back of Ojeda.
Eisenhower senior Christine Cook leads the point standings with 107 through two matches, four better than Richland freshman Kristen Strankman.
The next girls pod match is a week from today at Apple Tree in Yakima.
w The second CBBN boys pod match is today at Columbia Point in Richland. Hanford's Alex Cantu won the first pod of the season at Walla Walla Country Club. The boys then gather at Canyon Lakes next Wednesday -- following two days of WASL testing -- for the third pod match.

A few thoughts on girls soccer
A few thoughts on girls soccer
It's been a pretty good year for girls soccer in the Tri-Cities. Not only in high school, but at the club level, too.
For our purposes, I'll stick to high school soccer though.
In the CBBN 4A, Richland, as expected, is in the mix for another league championship. What wasn't expected was that Moses Lake would be right there with them. The Chiefs have put up some truly impressive wins. One week after being Chiawana on the road, they beat the Bombers in a shootout at home.

Just a couple of quick cross country notes.
First, I must have had a brain freeze when I was putting together a quick overview for the area cross country scene earlier this week. I forgot to include Southridge senior Rachel Dahl in a list of runners to keep an eye on.
Let's see ... All she did as a junior was place consistently in the top 10 throughout the season, then finish fifth at district, eighth at regional and 19th at the 3A state meet, easily the best finish for a Suns girl at state ever.
