YAKIMA -- Burbank kept its trophy hopes alive with a strong performance against Ilwaco as Nick Byrd hit five 3-pointers to lead all scorers with 23 points in a 56-39 victory.
Trevor Lott and Jordan Rada combined for 27 points for the Coyotes.
"The way we shot in the fourth quarter yesterday definitely helped us today," said Burbank coach DJ Traver. "Nick hit a couple quick 3s, and that good start carried us through the whole game, something we didn't do yesterday. Nick and Jordan are really carrying us right now."
The Coyotes started out well defensively, holding the Fishermen to just two first-quarter points for a 13-2 lead after the opening frame.
"They had two scorers averaging 18 (Jack Whealdon) and 15 (Karl Oman). We stuck Seth Shelton on one and Neal Schuck on the other. They really shut those two down," Traver said.
Whealdon finished with 12 and Oman with 9 as the pair combined to hit just 7 of 25 shots (28 percent).
The Coyotes (13-12) will face Winlock (22-3) at 11 a.m. today for a berth in Saturday's fifth-eighth place game.
The Cardinals are the tournament's biggest team, with 6-9 post Jake Brown, 6-6 guard Jordan Davis and 6-5 forward Nathan Booth.

BURBANK -- Before the season started, Columbia-Burbank's football team knew it would have a brutal three-game stretch in Weeks 3-5.
The Coyotes got through it about as well as could be expected, finishing 1-2 against SCAC East powers Royal, River View and Connell.
Now, Burbank must bounce back from a 55-7 loss to Connell against Kiona-Benton in a game that would go a long way toward wrapping up a playoff berth for C-B.
