TACOMA -- Walla Walla's boys fell into the consolation bracket of the 4A state tournament with a 52-37 loss to top-ranked Federal Way.
Wa-Hi (20-8) plays Inglemoor (18-7) at 2 p.m. today in a loser-out game.
The Blue Devils had no answer for Cole Dickerson, the Eagles' 6-foot-7 junior who is the half-brother of former NBAer Michael Dickerson.
Dickerson finished with 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting along with 11 rebounds, four blocks and three steals.
"We just couldn't guard him," said Wa-Hi coach John Golden. "I thought we did a good job on everyone else, but he got loose."
Wa-Hi led 13-10 after Spencer Hessler's backdoor layup to open the second quarter, but the Blue Devils went without a field goal the next 7 minutes and Federal Way (26-2) went on a 15-2 run to take control.
Dickerson's 3-pointer from the right wing capped the run, giving FW a 25-15 lead with 1:30 left before halftime.
The Blue Devils hung around and were still within 40-33 after three quarters, but Dickerson scored seven points in a 9-0 FW run to open the fourth that put the game away.
"We got it down to seven there, but we just couldn't defend the big guy underneath," Golden said.
Gary Winston led Wa-Hi with 11 points and Colton Arias added eight, but junior Michael Weisner was held to six on just 2-of-5 shooting.
"I like how we battled today," Golden said. "We just have to come back tomorrow and try to get a trophy."

Josh Eggers added 18 points and Kyle Jameson chipped in 13 as Wa-Hi clicked on offense to the tune of 63 percent from the floor.
"That's been kind of our weakness, so it's nice to be able to come out and shoot the ball well," said Walla Walla coach John Golden.

The Kennewick boys improved to 2-0, notching a 71-63 nonleague road win Saturday at Walla Walla thanks to another big effort by Bryce Leavitt.
The Lions' 6-foot-4 senior collected 29 points, nine assists, seven rebounds and six steals. He also helped ignite a key 18-2 run in the third quarter that gave Kennewick a comfortable cushion.
"Leavitt shoots the ball pretty well, and he penetrates. He went to the free throw line 15 times," said Blue Devils coach John Golden. "They've got a lot of weapons."

KENNEWICK -- Kennewick is on the road tonight at Hermiston, and the Lions will find out how much of their 53-6 win over Pendleton last week was on them, and how much was on the Buckaroos.
Lions coach Bill Templeton liked what he saw on video breaking down the game, especially from the defense.
"I loved the way our defense closed," he said. "There were times when it looked like Pendleton might have plays start to develop, and the kids did a nice job closing the gap, turning possible long plays into short ones, turning 2- and 3-yard plays into losses."
