PORTLAND -- It took Hermiston more than three decades to win its first wrestling state title.
Now, they are coming on a regular basis, and in historic fashion.
The top-ranked Bulldogs won their third straight Oregon 5A state title in convincing fashion Saturday, scoring a record 303 points to crush the field at Memorial Coliseum.
Hermiston had four champions -- including three-time champ Ben Jorgensen -- among its six finalists and placed 14 wrestlers.
It was so lopsided that the Bulldogs' 138-point margin over second-place Crater would have placed fifth in the team standings. Burns had the previous record with 269 1/2 points in the 3A tournament in 2007.
Jorgensen capped his Hermiston career with a 6-2 win over Zach Binkerd of Hillsboro for the 119 title. Teammate Jaylee Britt, who lost 6-4 in the semifinals to Binkerd, finished third.
Jorgensen's previous two titles came at 103, and the Bulldogs kept a lock on the weight with freshman Joey Delgado's 54-second pin of Crook County's McKennan Buckner.
Fellow freshman C.J. Dircksen won 4-2 over Riley Omlid of Thurston for the 112 title. Finally, sophomore Curtis Berger beat top seed Anthony Juliano of Century 7-2 for the 171 championship. Teammate Zach Bishop finished seventh at the weight.
Bryce McMahon lost 6-0 to three-time champion Eric Luna of Cleveland in the 140 final --Matt Kilsdonk placed eighth to give Hermiston three weights with double-placers.
Cody Britt finished second at 152, losing to top-ranked Brock Gutches of Crater on a second-period pin.
Brandon Adolf took third at 130, while Dylan Olsen (135), Ben Millard (160) and Lale Ena (215) placed fourth. Cody Spradlin was fifth at 145.
